Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days May 30 & 31, 2015

Free Pet Adoption Weekend – Thanks to Maddie

Little dog makes big impact for homeless pets in Contra Costa County

Thanks to Maddie, Contra Costa County has been chosen as one of six counties in the U.S. to participate in the 2015 Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days.  Area shelters and rescue groups, like Community Concern for Cats, will all work together at various locations around the county to empty our foster homes in just one weekend…and Maddie’s Fund® is taking care of the adoption fees.

WHO: Maddie’s Fund® along with Contra Costa County’s participating shelters and rescue groups including Community Concern for Cats!

WHAT: Free pet adoptions at Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days, a two-day collaborative effort of countless people trying to save the lives of shelter animals, a testament to what can be done when people come together and rally for a common cause.

WHEN: Saturday 12-5pm* and Sunday 12-4pm (May 30-31, 2015)mpad2015-badge

WHERE: Community Concern for Cats will be at our normal adoption sites:

  • PetCo, 1301 S California, Walnut Creek
  • Pet Food Express, 2158 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill (*OPENS AT 11AM!)
  • Pet Food Express, 3610 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette

WHY: Thanks to Maddie! In an effort to repay their Miniature Schnauzer, Maddie, for the endless joy she brought to them, the Duffield family formed Maddie’s Fund to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals. Maddie’s Fund has chosen Contra Costa County, along with five other counties across the U.S. to be a part of this year’s event in an effort to work together to empty the shelters.

Maddie’s Fund is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, they have awarded more than $153 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S. The Duffields named Maddie’s Fund after their Miniature Schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and comforted them during stressful business times when Dave was launching a start-up company. Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987-1997 and continues to inspire them today. Since its creation in 2010, Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days has donated $24.7 million dollars to participating adoption groups and successfully rehomed a total of 31,267 dogs and cats across the country.
