[Update: Adopted by his rescuer/foster after his brother Fig was adopted] Finley is 7 months old with a soft coat and a deep purr. Rescued from outside at 4 months, he is cautious but curious. He is seeking a patient adult household to shower him with love. In return, he will bond strongly with you.
Adoption Report
Fig was adopted by a lovely young couple who recently moved to the Bay Area from the east coast and were ready for a furry addition to their family. They understood that Fig would need a little patience, that he wouldn’t be ready right out of the carrier. They set up their home office for him, with a soft fuzzy bed and a box to temporarily hide in. Within a week he was starting to venture into the living room, let them pet and brush him. At two weeks they texted “Officially snuggling peacefully in the living room! Definitely making good progress!” Two weeks later they texted “We are so obsessed with Fig and we really think he’s settled in so nicely.” From being born to a feral mama in April and hiding in overgrown rose bushes to Juli rescued him in July, this kitty waited a long time but has found his true forever family.
Finely was the shyer of the two brothers. It is challenging to socialize feral kittens after 3-4 months of age to a stage where they are adoptable. Juli patiently fed them in the rosebushes until she found a CC4C Member to help her rescue them. When we got the two brothers inside, and I weighed them — almost 4 lbs — she wasn’t daunted by the challenge. She snuggled them, petted and talked to them every day, pulled them into her lap. Fig warmed up first, but Finley was resistant to being held. She hoped to keep both, but was already at the limit of pets with the landlord. So we posted both for adoption. Fig’s russian-blue coloring caught people’s interest and he was more socialized. When he was adopted, Finley was left on his own– which is actually good for rescues like Finley. Within just 2 weeks without his brother to depend on, he made more progress than he had in the months prior. He finally accepted the two dogs and began to sleep on the bed with Juli and snuggle next to her.
